Stine Marie Jacobsen (DK):
A 16-year-old Turkish Muslim boy bought this dog, as a weapon of protection from racism and gang violence in Germany. The dog’s vest now carries two words, which are diminutive* versions of life and death; lebchen and todchen". The words do not exist in the German language as such and are not related to any concrete forms found in the German grammar structure.
Thanks to Eray Gürkan and his pit bull dog Pasha.
*the ending "chen" on a german word is a way of indicating small size and sometimes the state or quality of being familiarly known, lovable, pitiable, or contemptible.
