Christian Falsnaes (DK):
CF studied philosophy and was active in the graffiti- and squatting scene before he began his studies at the Academy of Fine Art in Vienna. In his works - performances, installations and paintings - CF investigates our relation to and behavior in public space. He uses a wide variety of formal languages, from graffiti and hip hop to computer games, karaoke and action painting to work on critical observations of social phenomena. His research often develops in active collaboration with – as well as by close observation of – his audience, leaving common practice studio based research obsolete. Alterlaa: Series of paintings on canvas and subway, all painted in Alterlaa (U6) in Vienna by pulling canvases with paint over the surface of different parked trains. Hence the painting on the canvas is a print of the train and the other way around.
